Colombia Sugar Cane Decaf
Red fruit and caramel; caffeine removed naturally.
- Below 0.1% caffeine
- For evening drinking
Caturra grown in Colombia's Tolima region is decaffeinated in Colombia with ethyl acetate derived from sugar cane. The process preserves the coffee's natural sweetness. Caffeine content is below 0.1%.
In the cup
Red fruit, caramel and milk chocolate; round and sweet.
Suggested brewing
- Filter: 1:16, 93 °C
- Espresso: 18 g in, 36 g out, 28 seconds
Farm and processing
The decaffeination takes place at a local facility while the coffee is still in Colombia, so the beans do not suffer during a long transport. The ethyl acetate comes from sugar-cane fermentation and is fully removed with steam at the end of the process. The lot is also assessed with its own cupping score.
Pairing
We suggest serving it after dinner, with dessert or cheese.
Because decaf beans are more porous they go stale a little faster; we recommend finishing the pack within 3 weeks of roasting.
