Kenya Nyeri AA
Blackcurrant, grapefruit and tomato leaf; intense and lively.
- Limited lot, two roasts a year
- Excellent as cold brew
From SL28 and SL34 varieties of cooperatives in Kenya's Nyeri region, double-fermented, washed and hand-sorted; AA is the largest bean size. The red volcanic soil gives the coffee a sharp, fruity character.
In the cup
Blackcurrant, grapefruit and a hint of tomato leaf; a long, wine-like finish. We suggest drinking it without sugar.
Suggested brewing
- Pour-over: 1:15.5, 95 °C, medium-fine
- Cold brew: 1:9, 14 hours
Farm and processing
At the cooperative station cherries are processed within 12 hours, left to ferment wet for 24 hours and then soaked overnight in clean water. After three hand-sorting passes only AA-size beans enter the lot. For this reason the lot is small and roasted twice a year.
Pairing
It pairs with dark chocolate and fresh fruit; it is less suited to milk drinks.
